Former Premier League referee David Coote did not argue on Thursday guilty of making an indecent image of a child.
Coote, which was dismissed last year by the organization that referees in England achieved for deviating comments about ex-liver-boss Jurgen Klopp, appeared to the court of Nottingham Magistrates and received conditional bail by district judge Gillian Young.
The police said Coote was being charged on 12 August with regard to a video file found by officers in February.
The 43-year-old Coote only spoke to confirm his name and date of birth and to introduce his plea during the hearing of 18 minutes. He was told to appear on Nottingham Crown Court on October 9 for a new hearing.
According to the police, the accusation of making an indecent picture relates to actions such as downloading, sharing and storing material.
Coote won the headlines last year when a video appeared in which he used an expletive for Liverpool and a different term for Klopp. Critics said the comments made him unsuitable for official Premier League matches and that he was fired in December by the Professional Game Match Officials Limited.
Last month he received a suspension of eight weeks by the football club about the Kloppstages.
