Our last state! And I dare to say better? While Colorado is our original home, Montana is a close second since my family lives here and we work in Big Sky last winter. We were familiar with some of the areas, but we also had a lot of new land to explore. Incredible mountains combined with endless support made this state a favorite of the entire path!

Magic Fav Trail:
Cloud: All my mother did to help us was the best magic of trails! The hours he led to pick us up on the trails, money and time dedicated to helping us to replenish, giving me massage for my tense shoulders, etc. He is my favorite path angel forever and could not have succeeded or surely without her.
Mountain Goat: Britt’s support, especially beautiful. The past days having fun in the salmon, relaxing in Flathead Lake, and the hours they spend led us to trails were essential in our efforts. Thank you I cannot express how deeply grateful we are for all the magic of the path.
Favorite Day:
Cloud: Day 119: Our last full day on the road! I started the morning incredibly disappointed by the low clouds that persisted since the previous day. It was cold and humid, but above all, we could not see the incredible peaks that stand out from the famous Belly River Valley in Glacier. The first two hours were stalked, although mainly through the forest, so the views would not have been so extensive anyway. Just around Mile 7, the sun began to reach behind the clouds and my hopes and energy shot. Quickly, the clouds burned to reveal a spectacular peak exhibition, their reflection captured in the perfectly still lake. The past Indian Climb Up Stoney was equally impressive and pleasant. Then, we look for the abundance of blueberry bushes in the descent, collecting almost a thousand berries! Finally, we crown the day camping at Lake Waterton in the hiker shelter who had all the comforts. We even got an intimate sighting of a sow and a black bear puppy! It was like a reel of great blows of all my favorite things about the backpack.
Mountain Goat: Walking up to see the Chinese wall in the Bob Marshall desert was unforgettable. He took many miles and a lot of effort to reach this hidden jewel in NW Montana. This magnificent feature was with us for much of the day with multiple excellent photographs. It was not only a perfect climate day, but also a perfect day of Huck. After Spotted Bear Pass, the Huckleberries patch could have kept the record of the world’s largest (he is not sure of this, but we thought). To make matters worse, I have to glimpse a mobile cat that is one of the rarest meetings along the way throughout the trip.
Less favorite day:
Cloud: Day 113: The day we had to use our rescue plan. Due to a fire in the Bob Marshall desert, we rebuild our own alternative. However, the maps do not always show us the complete image of the environment that we want to walk. When we approached the crossing to the path, we were planning to take the next day, there was no access to the river or the flat camp. This left us with the option of increasing a rise of 4,000 feet with the hope of finding water and a flat place to camp or rescue and continue along the path until reaching a road, camp and river access. We went with the safest but more disappointing option and continued to Beaver Creek Campground. It meant that we lost an area that we really wanted to see and that we had a very long path the next day. It was only in general, an annoyance of a day.
Mountain goat: the day we walk in Anaconda. He had snowed during the night and we were very cold the whole path until we put ourselves in the collection of an incredible path of paths that warned us to the city. While we were leading to the city, we saw the police cars stand out only to discover that they had found and arrested the man responsible for the tragic bar of the bar in the city. It was not only a sad day for us, but also for the drowns city of Anaconda.
Best camping place:
Cloud: Eagle Foot Campground network in glacier. The site was near the lake, the toilet and the hung bear and the view was absolutely beautiful looking on the lake with an extension of peaks that surround it. The water temperature was perfect for a long rowing and the camp was calm in terms of the National Park standards.
Mountain goat: Reynolds Creek Campground in Glacier. I had everything I could ask for in a hot day from a quiet and fresh stream to shadow in each place after walking through a huge area of burns. To top it off, we listen to an Alce bugle on the river just next to us in the morning.

Worst Camp Spot:
Cloud: The place outside Creek Road. This was part of an alternative that we took during the heat wave to make more short days. We were entering and leaving the national forest lands all day, so we were not sure if we were in public lands or private lands. This meant that we had to be silent and a little stealthy. The site itself was inclined and was low, so it was very hot during the afternoon.
Mountain goat: the change site in many glaciers. It was just an old parking lot behind employee home. The comforts and the building were pleasant to have, but compared to the rest of Glacier’s crossing sites, I would like we could have obtained a different place.
Favorite city stop:
Cloud: Anaconda! The city is lovely and very friendly to hikers. After a snow night on Pintler’s, we were really ready for the city. We were able to stay for free at the hiker hostel, take a free shower and use bicycles to complete our other tasks of the city, which made everything so convenient. In addition to all those good things, my friend, Camilla, met us for breakfast, baked Muffins and took us to the beginning of the path.
Mountain goat: Anaconda also for me. They had an incredible configuration in the hiker garbage park to use bicycles to use. I also met with a fellow hiker that we had met in New Mexico and had a lot of fun in the city. To top it off, we obtained a great magic of trails from the people of the city and stretcher, who took us back to the path despite the fact that their car was almost mutilated by two guard dogs.
Minimum Parade of the Favorite City:
Cloud: Helena. In fact, we enjoy our time there, but it’s too big! It was a bit difficult to move and required a lot of planning to reach the places we needed to replenish, wash clothes and shower. We would like to go to the center and spend more time there!
Mountain goat: Waterton. It was a happy and sad day to do with the path. There was nothing wrong with the city or people itself, but he felt very redundant. The glacier is so big and wild that having this small park in Canada focused on a very tourist city gave me the wrong vibrations. 99 out of 100 times I would choose to walk or recreate in glacier instead up. There are many more gems in Canada that we need to explore that I am more excited.
