East Bengal won a 3-1 win over Diamond Harbor FC (DHFC) in the Kishore Bharati Krirangan on Sunday and came closer to the 41st Calcutta Football League (CFL) title.
The side started his second championship round with two changes when goalkeeper Debjit Majumder and attacker Sayan Banerjee returned from suspensions.
The match started at a rapid pace with the red and gold brigade that dominated the property and created early opportunities. In the 26th minute David Lalhlansanga broke the impasse of Vishnu PV’s assist to get his fifth CFL 2025 goal.
Diamond Harbor responded with intention, pressure on high and earned a few set pieces, but the East Bengal defense held and managed to protect the 1-0 lead until the break.
DHFC started the second half with more resilience. It made it right in the 71st minute by Sairratkima. The Indian Super League side, however, recovered its calmness and hit back in the 75th minute when replacement Jesin TK restored the lead. Sayan Banerjee accused the box and unleashed a target -related shot, but the ricoche of the glove of the rival custodian and fell for a sad Jesin, who made no mistake to slide the ball into it.
In the dying minutes of the game, Jesin completed his brace with a stunning strike to the distant pole.
«It is a positive sign that we create multiple opportunities in every game, but we must be more effective in conversion. Having said that, I would praise the boys to score three goals in successive matches against high -quality opponents,» said East Bengal B -Team Coach Archishman Biswas.
The victory pushed the Red and Gold Brigade closer to the CFL title, giving it a victory against United SC in his last championship round match at the East Bengal Ground on September 22.
