India is Maldives 6-0 to start with Saff U-17 Championship title defense on a High


Defending champion India started the Saff U-17 championship in style on Tuesday with a 6-0 win over the Maldives in the Colombo Racecourse Stadium in Sri Lanka.

Dallalmuon Ganged scored a brace-one goal in every half while Hrishikesh Charan Manavathi doubled the lead just before the half hour.

Kamgouhao Doungel ended the competition when he defeated the last line of defense after the restart and took care of a dominant three points for India. But the army of Bibiano Fernandes remained hungry for more and got two more, from Wangkheirakpam Gunleiba and Aazim Parveez Najar to complete the routes.

The Blue Colts, drawn in group B with Pakistan, the Maldives and Bhutan, will play their next game against Bhutan at the same location three days later.
