East Bengal has signed the Japanese attacker Hiroshi Ibusuki on a free transfer until the 2025-26 season, the Indian Super League (ISL) side on Wednesday announced.
Ibusuki replaces Dimitrios Diamantakos in attack for the red and gold brigade, with the latter saying goodbye to the club earlier this month.
The 34-year-old Japanese attacker was the most recent part of the A-League Men’s Side, Western United, until last season, but after the club was dissolved, all her players and head coach John Aloisi were released.
«This club has an incredible history and a great fan base, making it so popular in Asian football. I am honored to be part of such an iconic outfit and help the team to chase silverwork in the upcoming tournaments,» said Ibusuki after becoming a member of the Kolkata-based club.
«Some of my countrymen have already tasted success with East Bengal, and now I can’t wait to follow in their footsteps.»

Ibusuki grew up due to the youth of the Japanese Kashiwa Reysol before he started his European adventure with Girona FC in Spain in 2009. He came to Sevilla FC two years later and later returned to Japan, with Niigata, Jef United Chiba, Shonan Bellmare and Shimizu S-Pulse for Albirex.
«Hiroshi is an experienced and classic center-forward. His game style is determined by his physical presence, the ability to win air duels, clinical finishes and link-up skills. He has played for elite clubs in different countries and has the reputation to be a deadly Finisher,» said the main coach of East Bengaals.
