Barcelona manager Hansi Flick counts on Marcus Rashford to perform when the Catalans start their Champions League campaign against Newcastle on Thursday, with teenage sensation Lamine Yamal put aside due to injury.
Rashford, who brought an assist to Barcelona’s beautiful 6-0 thrashing from Valencia on Sunday, has drawn his German coach since he arrived at the arrival from Manchester United.
«I really follow Marcus (Rashford) since he started with Manchester United. And I always said:» Wow! What a player he is! «,» Flick told reporters at Wednesday’s press conference in Newcastle.

“He has speed, but also, in one counter-one situations, it is really fantastic. And also finishing, it is incredible.
«What I saw of him here in the first few weeks, it’s very good. And I think he still has potential to show us more.»
Yamal, who started the season strongly with two goals and two assists in Laliga, will miss Thursday’s collision due to a hip injury at international service with Spain. The 17-year-old can also be doubtful for Sunday’s game against Getafe.
Barcelona will also be without Alejandro Bald and Gavi, plus absent Marc-Andre ter Stegen in the long term, although Frenkie de Jong is available for selection.
«We all know that Lamine (Yamal) is not playing against Newcastle, perhaps not on Sunday (against Getafe),» said Flick. «But in the end we have a strong team and in his position we have Marcus Rashford. If someone cannot play in advance, he can stand up and play as he has shown against Valencia on Sunday. That is how good he is. I hope he can show the same performance he did in England in England.»
The German coach remains confident about the prospects of his team, despite the fact that he is dealing with heavy competition. «I am not thinking about who is the favorite (to win the Champions League this season). There are some very good teams, mainly from the Premier League,» he said.
«What we saw against Valencia was very positive. We play well in all areas. With this trust it is important to play tomorrow. They are very strong, but we are confident.»
