Lionel Messi is enclosed with Inter Miami Contract extension: reports


The biggest star of Major League Soccer may linger, because Lionel Messi is approaching a multi -year contract extension with Inter Miami, ESPN reported on Wednesday.

According to the report, the parties are in the late stages of conversations, with only small things that have to be completed. Financial conditions have not been reported.

Messi, 38, joined Inter Miami during the 2023 season and his contract runs through the end of the 2025 campaign.

This season he is in second place in MLS with 20 goals in 21 league games. Messi is also in sixth place with 11 assists. Last season he gained 20 goals (for second place in the competition) and 16 assists (bound for the third).

In 46 league games for the herons in general, Messi has 41 goals and 27 assists. In all competitions, Messi has 54 goals in 62 games.

An eight-time winner of the Ballon d’Or, Messi played from 2004-21 for Barcelona and for Paris Saint-Germain from 2021-23. He was part of 10 competition-title-winning teams in Spain and two in France, in addition to helping Barcelona to conquer the UEFA Champions League trophy four times.

Immediately when joining MLS, Messi Inter Miami helped to win the 2023 Leagues Cup. De Herons won the supporters’ Shield of 2024, awarded to the club with the best record of regular season, but they lost in the first round of the play-offs.

Inter Miami, with 49 points, is in sixth place in the Eastern Conference of MLS, who is introducing a Saturday home game against DC United.

Messi led Argentina to the World Cup championship in 2022 and to Copa American Crowns in 2021 and 2024.
