World Championships: Antim to fight for bronze
Radhika (68 kg) and Jyoti Beriwal (72KH) were eliminated on day five of the prestigious tournament.
Antim, aimed at her second medal championship after a bronze in the 2023 edition, had an easy start of her campaign when she eliminated Spaniard Carla Jaume Soner in just 23 seconds, but found a heavy rival in the Chinese Zhang, which she walked in the quarterfinals after 9-8.
Antim introduced a decisive admission to the dying moments against Zhang to prevail in the tight match.
Guzman, however, turned out to be a superior rival, who dominated the game to win 5-3.
There was no attacking movement by one of the wrestlers in the first minute. Antim tried a right bone attack, but Guzman was alert to thwart the attempt. Guzman scored a four-guide to pull away while she went into hiding and the Indian rolled.
The fast first period ended with Guzman who led 4-1.
The Ecuadorian, larger than Antim, was strong in her defense while she kept control of the game, even when Antim tried all the tricks to get started. Tactically superior, Guzman further raised the gap with a push out.
Antim pulled a take to the end, but it only reduced the defeat margin. She left the mat crying when she was looking for perfect redemption after the Fiasco of Paris, where she made an exit from the first round and was deported after her accreditation was canceled after a violation of the rules for games.
Manisha was surpassed 0-8 by Ok Ju Kim van Noord-Korea in the quarterfinals. Kim later made the final and opened the Repecage route for Manisha.
