Ramblings of the rainy day: the coastal path of Bornholm

I had a strange dream, with crazy and vivid dreams. The waves a few meters away were wild, and I must have incorporated them into my dreams. I dreamed with the pirates who somehow transformed into me composing a symphony, the «Symphony of the waves» that will be released with the New York Philharmonic. When I woke up the next morning, I sadly remembered anything from my composition. It was early when I looked out of my store, and what a view was! The horizon was covered on a heavy cloud shore, but just where the sky meets the sea, a clear splinter of heaven caught the sunrise in a deep orange. I stopped to take the moment.

When the first rain drops fell a few minutes later, they immediately drove me to the action, hurriedly packing before the worst of the storm. A gentle rain fell most of the morning as I made my way cautiously on the coast, on the rocky coast and the slippery rocks fields in moisture.

I arrived in the city of Svaneke, at the same time that three tourist buses were delivered. Suddenly, in a crowd, I hurried through the city to the tranquility of the path and my thoughts.

I stopped for lunch in the rain, eating Knekkebrød (Nordic Nordic bread) and Aufstrich (German vegetables extended). And then the heavens opened. It is no longer the soft rain of the last hours, this was a torrential and soaked rain. The next time was more or less a head job. When I approached the next city, Nexø, I stopped at the shelter of a bus stop to get a moment out of the rain and pick me up. While I contemplated my next movement, whether to wait for the storm for a moment or continue on my path in the downpour, a car passed, hitting the giant puddle formed by the sidewalk and sending a wave of dirty water tide directly on me. I stunned for a moment, my brain trying to process what had just happened. I was completely soaked. At this point, I could only laugh and I returned to the rain instead of risking with a repetition with the next car that happened.

The path left the city and went to the paradise of bird observers: Vildravatet Nexø Sydstrand, an area of wild bird shelter. The rain was still going down, and I had all the reserve for myself: the birds themselves seemed indifferent to the rain, and I was happy to share the path with them and their strident called while the rest of the human population bent down inside. At this point, I had completely embraced my state of being completely soaked and discouraged, and I felt full of joy, completely at the time, singing while splashing the puddles.

I passed through Snoebæk, famous for his ice cream (which had tried the previous day in Allinge), but the rainy hours so far without a clear end in sight did not shout the ice cream climate, so I continued, approaching the southern end of the island and Dueodde, the kilometers of long white sandy beach, an essential destination for the holidays. While I heard that the beach could be full, with the continuous rain (but decreasing!), Not another soul was in sight. The road goes directly to the beach for many kilometers, and was grateful that the rain would have made the sand firm enough to walk in a quiet way. Otherwise, prepare for long miles through changing sands. I felt tired at this point, my legs without zero doing everything possible to endure the miles I was asking for.

An expiration beach of flooding without a soul in sight.

And suddenly … the rain stopped! After 10 hours of walking in the continuous rain, the sky was cleaning and I felt euphoric. I took my shoes and walked barefoot through the waves. Some other people went out at night now beautiful, but still the beach stretched mainly empty before me.

A little messy after 10 hours of rain, but full of joy 🙂

My field of camp for the night, the Bassebo primitive tent site, was just outside the beach and is in a forest in the dunes. A weak rainbow branched on the sea while putting my tent.

Rainbow!

I hung my wet things from several branches of the trees and changed my warmer layers, it turns out that they were not a loss of space after all! Although the temperature was not too cold, it had been a long and humid day to walk (according to Garmin, I completed 29 miles today: 26.4 of the official path and the rest my secondary missions) and I was glad to be cozy and warm. I had dinner while the sun was put in summer and gold summer tones.
