Ballon d’Or 2025: Enrique, Wiegman Win Johan Cruyff Trophy for Coach of the Year

Paris Saint-Germain’s Luis Enrique and the Sarina Wiegman of England won the Johan Cruyff trophy for the best male and female coaches, respectively, during the Ballon d’Or 2025 ceremony in Paris on Monday.

Under Enrique, PSG has a historic season 2024-25 because it won the French competition, Coupe de France, a very first UEFA Champions League title and the UEFA Super Cup.

Wiegman led England to the second ladies European Championship title in a row.

«What an honor to get this prize after a very special summer. It was an even more amazing tournament we had at the euros in Switzerland,» said Wiegman after winning the prize.

“I want to thank the players, the staff, the FA and my family for the hard work and unconditional support that I received from them.

“The women’s game has grown so far, we have broken records. This is not just a personal honor, I see it as a reflection of the women’s game; we have come so far.

«With that growth we have responsibility and we have to try to retain our identity, to be authentic and inclusive. I hope we will continue to fight against misogyny and racism. Football must always unite and never share,» she added.

Enrique could not attend the ceremony because he was in Marseille for the deferred Ligue 1 collision (where PSG lost 0-1), but thanked his team for all support in a pre-recorded message.
