Yesterday, LP and I discovered the magic of the most epic path in history. We took a brief detour to a camp, hoping that, at most, someone would give us a cold soda. We sat at a picnic table, when Pete came to meet. He was in a group of approximately 10 forest service workers who were having their annual five -day camp, and one of the things they do is feed on PCT hikers. We sat there for three hours with cold drinks, corn in the ears, fresh figs, homemade sauce, desserts and black coffee. The last thing on that list ended up being important since we still had miles to cover and needed caffeine.
We camp last night about 5 or 6 miles of scarcity of refuge, and then we got up early and arrived just when they opened for breakfast. We ate, we did our hiker tasks, we ate again, and we are currently relaxing if we last the nap until we return to the road. We will probably only do another 10 or 12 miles today, but depending on the path, we can go further.
It has been very fun to walk with LP. Our steps are almost identical, both in distance and speed. We also like many of the same jokes, and Geek about the same things. I’m not sure how long we will walk together, but for now, I’m glad we met.
Given how fast we get here, and since we both receive food here, we both have too much food at this time. I gave half a dozen protein bars, and I still have too many dinners, and we are only 3 1/2 days of Bles, Oregon. I bought some sandwiches, but for the first refueling, I skipped more tortillas and peanut butter. I have a lot of food to bend. All dinners will eat, and they will not greet much, so I’m not too worried about weight.
In general, it is less than 250 miles to Washington, and even with some neroes around the days of supply, I think I will still arrive earlier than expected.
