When I left my camp, the water cache had 35 full jugs and 8 partial gallons. But it seemed that no one who used the cache wanted to help keep it organized. There were tons of half empty bottles and were scattered and the bottles full and empty. Why can’t people be attentive enough to take care of this kindness that others are providing us with?

I felt much better this morning after the break last night. The path was soft, and it was quite easy to walk 20 minutes for the first 6-7 miles. He felt good to have energy.

After eating some additional snacks and dessert for calories yesterday, I discussed whether to go through the guest ranch of Burney Mountain (BMGR). When the sign on the PCT turn said it was only 1/4 of mile, I made my detour to Bmgr. I am very happy to have done it.

The shelter seemed very open, tidy and clean. He had pleasant decorations, outdoors and good taste. I really liked manual mountains where the blades had been cut in the form of trees. Great fireplace Games and guitar in the corner. Pool table. Swim back. Nice shadow with chairs in the circle in the front. Everyone who spoke were very friendly and service. It seemed that they were very proud of the place and wanted to share it. That moved to feel that they also had a lot of respect for all hikers.

Breakfast was a buffet: scrambled eggs, Hash (real potatoes), bacon, sausages, cookies, pancakes. A trip to the buffet for everything except pancakes. If I didn’t have to make many walks, I would have eaten many more pancakes.

BMGR had one of the best replenishment stores I’ve seen. It seemed that they had almost everything a hiker could desire, including decent prices. They had many different types of hiker food favorites. They even had some unexpected supply articles, such as Sawyer couplings and joints, and head networks.

Being California, I look at all these little cities and resorts with one eye towards: «Would I like to return here?» I know that most PCT hikers will not return to places. Consequently, it seems that many of these places serve PCT hikers just because it makes commercial sense. They can be friendly enough, but when stores do not even show the prices of common hikers, I really wonder if they expect any return business.

I definitely want to look for Burney Mountain’s guest ranch!

I really felt that I had wings most of the day. The path continued to be soft. I was playing with hiking intervals: 40 fast/hard steps followed by 80 easy speed steps (take it calmly but try to maintain a fairly fast rhythm). Soon I found my easy rhythm falling below 18: 00/mile and my fast rhythm around 16: 00/mile.

Even with breaks, I was having a good time.

I guess I also concentrated enough to miss the detour to see Mcarthur-Burney Falls. UPS.

A problem I had were hot points at the bottom of my feet. That was much better for breaks. And I was very happy to get to the Creek Rock Crossing. There were about 7 people there filtering water and soaking their feet.

After relaxing there for a while, I wanted to take it easy and simply walk another third of a mile to some good tent places.

On the way from the stream, there were some beautiful views of Rock Creek Falls.
