Day 116
Last night, I had dinner at Big Lake Youth Camp, and then I walked a few miles (in the dark again) and ended up camping right in the 2000 mile mark. It is quite surprising to have gone so far: it is a great milestone, and the end continues to get closer and more.
I realize that I am taking this note, which I have not published any update of this blog since I was in Ashland. Great days, great miles, and no zeros has put me a little behind in the updates, but I will discover what to do (what I probably publish this long after the walk ends). I have decided not to take zeros at home when I arrive at Snoqualmie Pass. I will be so close to the terminal at that time that I know I will want to move on (and I also worry that I will vort at home). I await a small number of neros on the way to make sure you get the rest I know I will need.
I was on the way to LP this morning for the first time, or at least in the week we have been walking together. One of the things that I love the path and the friends we do is that LP and I could walk until the end of the terminal, or this could be the last day we see each other. Both are fine. I made many friends on this path, that has really brought a lot from who I am. I am nervous and excited to see how Trail Spy translates again into the civil spy.
Today’s climate is cooler, and although it smells like rain, it should be a great day to walk. I hope we can get some good miles.
Day 117
We ended up walking 25 miles yesterday. Neither LP and I really were feeling it, and 25 is good enough. Some days on the road are like this: one day you feel that you can walk forever, and another day, you can be exhausted at lunchtime. The paths were beautiful, and I finished a few miles ahead of LP in a moment and took a long break on a crest. Finally we find ourselves and then camped in the first place we could find. We had dinner and bet early.
We had a great night of sleep, and we both felt much better on the path today. For me, the heat of the rocks and the sand on the path really killed my feet, and although today it is hot, and it is rocky along the way, it still feels better.
We spent a lot of time talking about our strategy at Timberline Lodge. Actually, there are only four things that hikers do, and one of them is eating large amounts of food, so these conversations are common. We plan to get to Timberline Lodge in a few days, and then appear on time for the beginning of the breakfast buffet, where we will accelerate and eat all the time that is open. We are in a good pace to get there in a few days to camp near the shelter and feast, and we are both wishing it arrives.
It has been fun to have someone to walk with. We do not walk together all day, but LP and I spent a large part of the day speaking, counting jokes and singing songs. It is not an experience that I anticipated along the way, but it has been a lot of fun.

Forward.
