News from Liverpool injury: Federico Chiesa for Champions League Tie against Galatasaray

Liverpool will be without Federico Chiesa when it takes Galatasaray in the Champions League on Tuesday, with manager Arne Slot who confirms that the Italian attacker has not recovered from a knock in the defeat on Saturday by Crystal Palace.

Chiesa, who scored the only goal of Liverpool in Selhurst Park, was added to the European list last week instead of wounded Giovanni Leoni.

Slot, however, said that the winger is not in the 21-man group that travels to Istanbul after he has not ended the training, where the club chooses to protect him prior to the next league match against Chelsea.

«He got a small lump, I think it’s the word you use here in England, in the last match against Palace,» Slot told reporters on Monday.

«He tried it today, he was on the field in the beginning, but he could not end the session, so we decided not to take it because it will be Chelsea again within a few days,» he added.

After Liverpool’s first Premier League loss of the season, Slot called for a reaction, and said that his team created enough against Palace, but was canceled by defensive.

«It doesn’t matter if we win, lose or draw, if you want to compete for trophies and a Liverpool shirt and what is asked of you, gives everything you have and combine that with the best football you can play,» he said.

«We admitted many more opportunities than before when we played Palace. So we can certainly improve a few things,» he added.

The Dutchman rejected suggestions that the defensive issues of his party arise from recent changes in the full-back positions, which indicates collective responsibility.

«One of our strengths was that we have loved the other team a lot of our goal, and that normally does not start with your defenders. We have to go back to that. We have to prove that we could prove in the coming weeks and months that we might have had a bit of bad luck in awarding some set pieces,» he said.

Turkish champion Galatasaray arrives on a series of seven straight league profits, while Slot said that the 5-1 defeat was misleading by Eintracht Frankfurt in his Champions League opener.

«They had a lot of bad luck in that game,» he said.

«If they play the same game again, they will never admit five goals. They are a very good team with a very good manager, and we must be prepared for that,» he added.
