Major League Soccer: Philadelphia Union Downs New York City FC to achieve supporters’ Shield

Philadelphia Union achieved the supporters ‘supporters’ supporters of Major League Soccer on Saturday after a 1-0 win over New York City FC saw the best record of the regular season.

Danish striker Mikael Uhre scored the only goal of the game to generate wild parties for the Huis public of Philadelphia’s Raute Subaru Park.

«It is sweet, this has been built since the competition day one,» Carnell said afterwards.

«These guys invested in the very first beginning and they are rewarded today. You just have to tip your hat to everyone here at the club. It starts with the organization and goes all the way down, everyone pulls in the same direction. Just a nice, fun season,» he added.

The result marks a quick transformation for Philadelphia, who did not reach the MLS Cup -Play -Offs last season.

«This is a winning team and it just had to be returned – the foundations just had to be tuned and polished,» Carnell added.
