The day started with lots of climbing on loose rock trails. That was enough to make him slow. Having her legs tied amplified that.

It was a hard day, especially mentally. I’m not sure what I need to accomplish to meet Becky.
The scenery was really fantastic, but I’m not sure if I was really appreciating it or if I was partly using it as an excuse to take breaks. The marble around here is really clean.

Emotionally, I’m just not here. I am too frustrated with communications with Becky about the meeting in Ashland. I know he’s trying, but he also said at one point that if I don’t get to Ashland on time, he can pick me up further south on I-5. After Shasta, the trail does not approach I-5 until it approaches Ashland. So she doesn’t understand the logistical challenges we might face. My maps are so focused on the PCT that I’m not sure what roads it crosses that are accessible by passenger car (or how long it would take to drive there). And it’s really hard to communicate these things with Garmin’s confusing messages.
I’m not motivated to walk. I stopped at 5pm after only 12.25 miles. I hope that getting up early and resting will at least restore my energy, even if it doesn’t cover the miles I missed.
I ate a lot during dinner and by 7:30 I was already lying in my tent. Hopefully rest and food help.

The campsite was completed with a marble table.
I asked Becky to find alternative meeting places that she would feel comfortable driving to. Hopefully that clears things up enough for us both to feel comfortable. I know she is trying to be helpful and supportive.
