Who is the Brazilian goalkeeper Bento, teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr?

Brazil play a friendly against South Korea at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Friday, and it is 26-year-old Bento who has been given the nod by Carlo Ancelotti to start between the sticks.

Who is Bento?

Bento Matheus Krepski, known simply as Bento, is being touted as Brazil’s next great goalkeeper.

Bento currently plays club football for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, where he is teammates with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Born in Curitiba, Parana, Bento joined Athletico Paranaense’s youth academy in 2013 at the age of 14 and was promoted to the senior squad in 2020.

After spending four years at Athletico Paranaense, Bento signed for Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr on July 17, 2024.

He made his Al Nassr debut abroad on 14 August, in a 2–0 away win against Al-Taawoun in the 2024 Saudi Super Cup semi-final, keeping a clean sheet.

International career

In August 2023, Bento received his first call-up to the national team by interim head coach Fernando Diniz for two 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Bolivia and Peru.

On March 23, 2024, Bento made his national team debut in a 1-0 win in the friendly against England.
