Ecuador and Mexico draw 1-1 during the warm-up for the World Cup

Jordy Alcivar scored from a penalty in the first half to help Ecuador to a 1-1 draw against Mexico on Tuesday in a warm-up match for both teams for the 2026 World Cup.

The German Berterame opened the scoring in the third minute, but Alcivar equalized in the twentieth.

Mexico, which will play alongside Canada and the United States at the next World Cup, extended its winless streak to four games.

Mexico lost 4-0 to Colombia last Saturday and has not won a match since beating an alternative team from the United States in the Gold Cup final on July 6.

The Mexicans will try to end that streak in November when they play Uruguay.

Ecuador, which ranked second in South America just behind Argentina, drew 1-1 against the US last Friday.
