Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite will undergo surgery on Tuesday after a complication during his recovery from a hamstring injury, the Premier League club said.
The England international, who has made 65 league appearances over the past two seasons, has been sidelined since August.
The 23-year-old signed a new contract in July that will keep him at Everton until 2030.

“After consultation with specialists, it has been determined that the defender will undergo surgical intervention tomorrow to address the problem,” Everton said in a statement on Monday.
“Branthwaite will commence a structured rehabilitation program under the supervision of the club’s medical team following surgery.”
Everton, which has eleven points after eight league games, will host Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
