Pining for the pine – The Trek

Hello bumblebees!

Bzzz…bzzzz! I’m here to tell you about my latest section of AZT. This stretch runs from around Mormon Lake to Pine.

Day 10:

I’ve never started the day with Oh Dear, Gear… but today I’m going to change that! My Soto pot. My pot is made of Titanium and has a cozy. I love my cozy, it is very useful. When you eat hot ramen you don’t burn your fingers. Hahaha 😝. But you still burn your mouth.

The trail was covered in trees for most of the day, but the morning was windy! There were many cows in the field! Today we mainly walk through or next to cow fields.

Challenge of the day:

Leaving at seven in the morning. 🔥I don’t know if we will make this happen. But I have hope.

About 30 minutes before reaching the camp it started to rain. Shoot. 🙎 We arrived at the camp and the places were flat. The first time we had a flat place to camp in a long time!

Now I have some news. Are you ready to have your mind explode??? Today we did 25 miles. Curse! New record for my mom and me. Yay. 🥳

There’s no way we could have done a 25 mile ride without leaving before 7:00, so yeah…we made it at 7. ✅

Day 11:

Challenge of the day!

I’m trying again not to complain all day. ❤️‍🔥

We had a lovely morning and left at 7:24, which is sooooo, sooooo, sooooo late. But when we returned to the track we climbed into a mud field and we got all muddy and wet. We were splashing around in the water for hours. But we covered some kilometers!

The trail took us from the Mogollan Rim and there were incredible views from this stretch of trail. We hit the Highline Trail here and there are a lot of red rocks. Beautiful! In the afternoon we met a nice hiker named Nominal. Then we couldn’t find a place to camp because we were walking through a burned section. But I finally found a place. Normally LSL finds the camp, but not today. I am very satisfied with myself. Gold star! ⭐️

Oh dear, team:

My Sunshine Hoodie I got it after TRT. It says Tahoe Rim Trail. I got it in your store. It’s blue as you can see.

Great ponies. 🥰

Day 12:

We walked through the mud in the morning and then Nominal caught up with us. We chatted for a second in New York. And then, pizza was calling!!!

I had ramen and it was amazing! 🤩 Gold star 💫 mom. I had the purple rice noodles we tried a night or two ago! We had a 30 minute lunch break, because today we are heading into town and I want PIZZA!!!!!

We ran into a hiker on the way to Pine named Nick, and wow… Nick walks so fast! I was signing in at the trailhead along the road to Pine when a person approached us and asked if we needed a ride to Pine. I was very, very, very grateful. ☺️

We went to the PO immediately when we arrived in Pine to get our resupply box. We didn’t want to miss it! Then we met Aquarius, another AZT hiker. We talked to him for a moment and then we went to the general store (Ponderosa Market) and the store had my favorite peanut candy!!! From the Rose! We went to get pizza for me and arugula and beet salad for my mom (laughs) at the Old County Inn. The pizza is very good, I recommend it. I got the Simple one.

We got a zero the next day (null if you want to speak German) while staying at a Trail Angel’s house. Her name is Shannon and she has beds for hikers. It was a nice place and there were a couple other hikers staying there too: Aspen and Aquarius. We have the king bed! Overall, I would say Pine is a small town where everyone knows everyone. However, the people were very friendly and helpful and Ponderosa Market has a few options to restock.

Today there is no challenge of the day because we are walking towards the city.

Oh my gosh, team!

I obviously wear socks and have DarnTough! They have a lifetime warranty. It’s as simple as sending in your old socks and DarnTough will send you a new, clean pair in exchange if you have a hole in a pair.

Now I’m leaving… and I’ll see you in the next post! I’m excited. 💛🐱✌️
