FC Goa lost 1-2 to Al Zawraa in an AFC Champions League 2 Group D match at the Zawra Stadium in Baghdad on Wednesday.
The visiting side’s fifth defeat in as many matches ended their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages.
Goa went down a man after Ayush Chhetri picked up a red card in the 34th minute. The home side made good on their numerical advantage four minutes later when Kadhim Raad scored to put his team ahead at half-time at 1-0.
Goa leveled the scores through Dhurgham Ismael’s own goal in the 51st minute before Hasan Abdulkareem put his side back in front in the 65th minute, which proved to be the decisive goal.
Manolo Marquez’s men are back in action on December 4 in the AIFF Super Cup semi-final against Mumbai City FC.
It concludes its continental assignment with a home match on December 24 against Istikol.
