A minute has passed …
Wow, time flies when you walk more than 20 miles a day with very few breaks! Finally I have found the perfect conditions to update my blog: enough dream √ promoted in caffeine √ The tasks are carried out √ found a beautiful √ library. Let’s travel all the way back to Mammoth, ca!
Mammoth was definitely one of my favorite experiences of Trail Town. Back in the desert, Chipmunk and I met a friendly path of path who stopped us on a dirt bike. First, she gave us every lollipop. We chatted for a while, and out of nowhere he offered to let us stay at home in Mammoth! There were multiple rooms, a balcony and, most importantly, a pool and a hydromassage bathtub. We were living the dream!
After running all our errands and eating tons of food from the city, we had a movie night with Duke, Flora, Great Girl, Grandma and Scientific. We decided to see Wild because some of our group’s hikers had not yet seen it. It was great to see some of the places in the PCT that we recognized, and see the characters of the people we have met or known (Greg in Wild, Meadow Ed). A part of the movie that really surprised me was an appointment of Cheryl’s mother: «There is a sunrise and a sunset every day. Be there for it. Get on the path of beauty.» This is how my life is alive. I promised myself at that time to never stop getting on the path of beauty.
Tunes and I also met with Founds for the last time, who decided to leave the way. It was great to see it for the last time!
Do it again
After a really relaxing zero, it was time to return to the path. Tunes and I always fight to leave the city, so it was 6 pm for when we started walking again. We found a good camp that we had everything for us only a couple of miles and hit the hay.
I knew I would leave the most beautiful part of the path in California, so I made sure to absorb to the last lake. Thousand Island Lakes was one of my favorites! It was the perfect temperature, and I could swim for 20 minutes. I had everything for me. While floating in the water looking at the mountains, I couldn’t help thinking: «What is this life that I am living?!»
That night, I finished the climb to half of Donohue Pass and I had an impressive camp for me.
Now you are entering Yosemite
The next morning, I couldn’t stop taking photos up Donohue Pass. Sometimes I can’t believe that certain places in nature are real. I took a little break at the top and saw a sign that said you are entering Yosemite. I love that I can walk through all these iconic parks on this walk. I found a place on the river just to the other side of the pass that looked like an infinite pool, and could not avoid giving a dump. This may have been my coldest yet, since I lost my breathing when I climbed! I couldn’t stay in that for more than a few seconds, but it was still refreshing.
Later that day, I arrived at Tuolomne Meadows and met with squirrels and melodies. We sat outside the store for hours and continue in the store to get more snacks and frost drinks. The next morning, I had to say goodbye to the melodies, since I was walking halfway and decided to jump it. We both cry, but we make sure it is only goodbye for now. It is very difficult to separate from your tramily! Chipmunk was taking the bus for Yosemite, but we planned to meet later.
All day exploring Yosemite was so charming! I drank from soda spring (somehow, natural foamy water appears from the ground here) and swallowed in waterfalls. This is another place that I think feel like a different planet. I arrive at the place of my camp with tons of over time, which is a rare fact. I do some equipment repair that I have been postponing, then I decide that I have time to soak my feet in the river before bedtime. I make the mistake of trying to deepen to soak my knees, and I finish making an accidental complete overtime in all my clothes! After the initial shock, I can hang my clothes to dry in a tree before climbing my store.
Committed to Pato’s challenge
The next few days return to the steep escalation and the descent to which I have been accustomed in the mountains. I revived 2 passes on the first day: Benson and Seavey. It was definitely hard for the knees! I was able to have been able to swim three times that day in different lakes! My favorite of that section was the Smedberg lake at lunch. Of course, with beautiful lakes, Mozzies always come. They are relentless in this section: you cannot stop moving by a second without being covered from head to toe, and cannot overcome them.
The next day I was so excited to get to the 1,000 -mile score. This was a great milestone that was waiting! I met Speedgoat just before the scoreboard, so we could celebrate together and take silly videos and photos with him. Grandma reached us a little later, and we all camped together shortly after.
KMN – The end of an era (yes)
The next day was a city day: we were getting into Kennedy Meadows North. He had mixed emotions, because this means the end of the Sierra (at least according to some). The views of the whole day were incredible, since we were walking on a crest for most of the day. I made the mistake of not verifying where the next water was since it has been so abundant in the mountains, and I had to do 9 miles with only 1 liter. Every time I spent a snow patch, I stopped and listened to the smallest drip. I finally found a place with a flow of fresh and frost snow that melts! While I was filling, Tent Chef reached me and I was so excited about snow melting water. A one -day hiker came to talk with us and said that if we could continue the rhythm, he would give us a trip to Kmn. I’ve never been more motivated and approached the mountain.
Unfortunately, Kmn was not the relaxing rest he expected. It was strong, hot, and there were tons of people there. It is not the best for my neurodiver brain! I stayed the night but as soon as I slept. A random dog entered my room in the shelter several times from 5 am, so I gave up and packed my things. Speedgoat and I had breakfast together, then it was time to start walking. We got on the ferry and left around 11. Speedgoat and I camped together, but we separated in the morning. She is taking slow to meet her partner in the city, and I want to make bigger miles to enter the South Lake Tahoe.
South Lake Tahoe
After a few more days of steep climbing and cool lava rock mountains, I arrived at the road to get to Lake South Tahoe. Finally, a zero day that could be relaxing (spoiler alert: it was not at all). Chipmunk and I met again and we arrived at the Mellow Mountain shelter. This was definitely one of my favorite shelters so far! He had a great kitchen, hikers and even a mini computer laboratory! This city stop involved tons of good food from the city, including a giant sushi burrito and a free large pizza (a hiker agreement). While it was not a relaxing stop, we still have fun exploring. It was a skiing station, so he really felt a bit like being back in Colorado. We even meet our friends, spot and water water! Splash kindly gave us advice for our endless knee problems. I hope to solve them soon!
After a long time in the row at the post office the next morning, Chipmunk and I returned to the path. We ate Bars to the side of the road and felt as trash from hikers again. We had to open a new map in Farout: Nortal! It is crazy to look back in what we have already completed. I will give you the next update after completing the 100 -mile burns section 😅
