Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami will be looking to secure a first trophy of the season when they take on Vancouver Whitecaps with German legend Thomas Muller in the 2025 MLS Cup final at Fort Lauderdale’s Chase Stadium on Saturday.
Inter Miami is looking to win the MLS Cup for the first time in its history after qualifying for the play-offs by finishing third in the Eastern Conference. The team never got further than round 1 of the play-offs this season and was defeated by Atlanta United in round 1 over three legs last year.
If they manage to win the trophy at Chase Stadium, it would be Messi’s third trophy with Inter Miami, after the Leagues Cup in 2023 and Supporters’ Shield in 2024. The team also won the Eastern Conference play-offs this year.
The Whitecaps will also be looking to win their first title, having never won the trophy before. It reached the playoffs after finishing second in the Western Conference. It was eliminated in round 1 in 2024 after losing to Los Angeles FC.
