220 days throughout the year triple crown calendar

This morning I woke up just before 6 in the morning and began to get up slowly and pack. I hoped to be on their way around 7 am or just after that. I made a schedule for the entire Washington state and I am trying to follow it. If everything goes well, the schedule will allow me to complete the entire state and return from the Canadian border in 15 days.

If you averaged 34 miles a day, I will be outside the rank of stays in the city. That would let me have to do the refueling «inside and outside» in the morning and early in the afternoon on a couple of different occasions. But, if I press really big miles in the next few days, I could change that schedule a bit. Then I could end the day in the city in a bed several different times in the state of Washington. Allowing me to replenish more easily and load my electronic passively during the night. Instead of losing beautiful hours of daylight. So I hoped to leave as early as I could today and get in.

Just before leaving the city, my dad called me and we talked on the phone for a while. We have been talking a lot about singer Mike Posner. You may remember it from the early 2000s. It has some successful songs such as «taken a pill in Ibiza.» But the most exciting thing about him is that he is walking on the CDT to the south this year.

Crossing the bridge of the gods!

The funny thing is that I really spent this year talking about celebrities and hiking. It has always been fun that a population with so many passive income does not enjoy the hobby. I have heard that some famous people make long walks, but not as many as you think. And certainly there are no names known as Mike Posner. Nor has a walk like this before and is starting at the end of July. Hoping to maintain an FKT rhythm for the entire walk. Except that he does not realize that it is an FKT rhythm, at least I don’t think. Probably because he didn’t necessarily investigate as much as he should.

But he is publishing regular videos on the walk and I have been consuming the content religiously. My dad has also done it, so we were chatting about it. My dad thinks it is absolutely fun to see someone try to do 30 miles through the door. Now that my father has learned so much this year about hiking and saw me push the mileage as this every day for more than 200 days, has a unique perspective of the situation. So he really enjoyed watching Mike Posner Battle updates with the brutality of 30 years ago. Understandably, mileage like that hits quite hard. Especially at the beginning.

The water was perfectly still when I crossed the bridge of the gods.

Finally, I packed and left the room and finished my phone call with my dad. But I think I will be on and off more frequently during the next week or so. I have been doing a very good job when they were caught with the family recently. Then I walked through the city and chose not to take breakfast or anything when leaving. I had a lot of Trader Joe food to get company.

You can walk just outside the waterfall locks and return to the path, which is very pleasant. And this morning was one of the most exciting parts of the PCT. When you cross the bridge of the gods, which marks the transition between Oregon and Washington. The iconic bridge illuminated in the Wild book by Cheryl Strayd. A story that hikers love to speak.

220 days throughout the year triple crown calendar

A fun way to start the day.

Crossing the bridge felt a little less exciting than it could be if I had continuously walked through Oregon. Although I realize that I only had between 12 and 14 days to invent those miles. So I’m still quite close to finishing the path. In addition, this is not just its average PCT through the walk. I have to think more logistically and make decisions regarding the entire calendar here.

Once I crossed the bridge, I walked along the way for a while before returning to the path. Then he enjoyed a fairly gradual climb through a beautiful wooded forest during the next two hours. There were many blackberries that border the path. But I think I really had the other day. I was voraciously eating the blackberries when I noticed them for the first time on the way. But since I have become a little weaned.

During the next two hours I saw some different hikers. The path was really pleasant and easy, which was an advantage. I know that Washington will be significantly harder than Oregon and California. But it will not be more difficult than part of the land in which I have already walked this year. In addition, I will be rewarded with many incredible views.

I always love this old path of trails next to the road in Washington.

The day ended up spending faster than most. Every morning, when I wake up and start walking, I would like to believe that time will fly. Some days do it! I blinked and I’m already in the middle of the day. Other times it seems that I am clinging to every minute and every mile. And there really is no rhyme or reason. The slow days are not necessarily difficult days, and vice versa.

Today the land was quite easy to allow my mind to move away. I went through the lush green forest of pine and large ferns. I spent all four hours of the day going up. And I really didn’t realize until I got to the top. Then I looked at the map and elevation profile and realized that I had been going up since I started the day. I took a quick break to eat some of the bars and the cream cheese that I packed. And I immediately realized that I have been sparing absolutely with high quality food this year. I don’t know why I became so vague to replenish. But I really need to season things in the back of this year triple crown.

After that break, I was ready to go for another 3–4 hours. I felt really good and did not have too much elevation gain for the rest of the day. Everything would be quite gradual, at least for today. Washington will get a little spicy, but I don’t have to start that at this time.

Walking for a loose handle.

He had an eye on a designated camp, which apparently had bathrooms and good tents. But I wasn’t sure if I would end there just because I was a little out of place. However, I saw some comments on the nearby tents there, and it would be a day of 35 miles. If I do 35 miles today and 40 miles tomorrow and the next day, I prepared to hit multiple cities in the afternoon of Washington. Versus stop in the city early in the morning or later in the afternoon. In other walks, it makes much more sense to reach the city in the morning. That way, you can save money in a room, replenish, eat and enter and leave the city. But when I am doing a walk like the triple crown of the calendar year, it really makes more sense to reach the city at some point between 4 and 7 pm. That way, I can do all my homework at night, charge electronics overnight and not lose any beautiful day to do homework. Certainly it is not the best option for everyone, but it is something that seemed to me for me this year.

The path was so lush and beautiful today.

I ended up crossing some paths as the day progressed and approached the darkness. The path actually passes just through some kind of glamping location with Yurtas. Apparently you can rent them and are out of the way. Which is a fairly good concept, but it was certainly not necessary today. Instead, I kept going a little further and ended up finding a flat place just before it darkened. There was a nearby water source that I could fill that. Then I stood to spend the night.

Towards the end of the day I crossed this path. Then he continued in the forest.

This place worked perfectly because it was right at the base of a climb. And it simply did not seem that there were necessarily excellent camp options once I started climbing. A characteristic of the PCT in northern California, Oregon and Washington, is that sometimes the path is a very narrow crest with a great fall on one side and Alarge Hill on the other side. This definitely limits its camping capacity in the surroundings. Sometimes you will walk through miles without leaving the crest. That is, if you were walking and looking to camp, you would definitely be sun. I was glad I stopped when I did it and I had a rather early night. Because tomorrow will be a very long day.
