49 or 50 beams in Piazza Rock Shelter 0.00

I woke up in my very standard 530 am and said goodbye to Chestnut and the other pairs of hikers who stayed in the shelter last night. My lower left leg was still very swollen and the movement of the ankle in any direction, not cheerful.

I ate a bar, read my book and around 8 in the morning I fell asleep. Waking up at 1130 am, it was understandably as surprised as what had just happened. I suppose it is completely possible that my body suggest that I needed to rest a bit to help in the recovery of my body.

I devoured some tortillas stuffed with sausages and cheese, and decided to leave for my first walk of the day. He went to the bathroom. And about twenty meters away. I took my posts and took me some time. The leg had considerably rigid.

The highlight of the rest day was double Dunny. Yes, two seats in a cubicle. Yes, that is a cribbage table between the two bathrooms. Yes, some games have apparently played over the years. Yes, I think it is one of the strangest things I’ve seen on a path anywhere on the planet.

I returned to the shelter and met the crest corridor for this section of the path, Hot Tang. We spent the afternoon chatting on the path and life in general. Other hikers appeared throughout the afternoon and some great conversations passed the afternoon and allowed me to forget the frustrations I felt unable to continue wandering along the path.

After dinner, I read for a while and then I walked away in another deep dream.

Marmot Day

The second day of rest was very similar to the first. The swelling was decreasing from what pleased me, but the ankle movement was still significantly prevented. I added a thirty -meter walk to the nearby stream for my leg field skins.

For the days, I realized that my double zero was not going to be enough for recovery. My plan is to go to Rangelley tomorrow, take a little ibuprofen and then get hooked to a nearby paid camp where I can get ice.

It is fair to say that I was not very happy with my situation. One of the challenges of being an international hiker is the inability to retire home with family or friends to rest with an injury. I guess I will give the injury a week of rest and make a call from there, either to return home or return to the road.
