Bob did not sleep well at all last night. It was too cold. I was shaking all night. It was a difficult beginning.
We left the camp around 6:45 am after the rest of the group. They left at 6:15.
We walk almost two miles before reaching a river crossing. Bob and I took the alternative route that was two crosses that were less deep with less current. I had difficulties with ice water, the walk between frozen grass and ice water again. I worry that my feet fingers no longer handle the cold well and I am always worried that I lose a foot of the foot to freeze.
Bob is having problems with his left Achilles. His shoe is now causing a problem, probably breaking three miles and river crossings. We stopped several times to handle that.
We were supposed to meet others in the hot springs about 8 miles along the path.
When we arrive at Spur’s first path to Muir Trail Ranch (MTR), we chose to stay on the PCT and take the second path. This was a mistake. The first path was an easy path. The PCT section was uphill for 1.8 miles. When we reached the second path, we would have had to go down 600 feet in .7 miles and we didn’t want to do that and then continue uploading the next 3 miles. Then Bob and I jumped the hot springs. We both feel bad that others were waiting for us and we weren’t going to appear and we didn’t have a way to achieve them.
We walk along the path, on the MTN, we are preparing to cross a pass in the morning.
Many curves. He felt very hard. For some reason, both Bob and I were DraggGGGGGGing today. Maybe after 21 miles yesterday or maybe just one day off.
Finally we reach 3 miles to the camp and set our store at three PM! He sprayed a little and we wanted to have shelter.
I made my protein drink, ate a complete pudding package and then rest.
We listened to others coming and we could get their attention and explain ourselves.
They said they couldn’t even enter/find the hot springs! They all took a naps and loaded their phones, then they left.
They also established themselves even though they intended to go another mile.
It rained a little and we were all in our stores. The sun came out again and we all had dinner together again.
Tonight I had a tuna bomb, and this time it was hot. 🌟
Fire Foot, Backtrack and Rookie are also here, and another group of about 6 people we don’t know.
We are all spending the pass early tomorrow morning. It is only 3 miles from the MTN.
It was a very good night to visit at the camp.

Today was the day of the curves!
This morning we left around 6 in the morning with La Tramilia. We had another pass only 3 miles away. Selden Pass (10,913 feet) is currently my favorite pass! It is not above the tree line and has a very minimal snow to the monkey. It was a good climb, good changes. We arrived at the pass around 7:30 am we had a river crossing and took off my shoes and pants of my socks for this. It was not as cold and miserable as yesterday morning. However, it was later in the day.
It was a good day of hiking. Although Bob’s knee is bothering him again. Today there was a lot of descent that always aggravates it. Backtrack walked with us a lot today. The Tramilia was going to vermillion Valley Resort (VVR), but Bob and I was not planning. We had enough food to get to Mammoth, but when the time came, we changed mind and joined them. VVR has limited food and refueling. Bob and I were tempted by the hamburger and beer for free. So we take the 1.8 path to the landing of the ferry. We arrived at Ferry Landing at 3:30 pm The ferry arrived at 4:45 pm. It is a 30 -minute trip to VVR. They had a greeting and the system is very slippery. When you arrive, they start a tab for you under your name. It will be easy to fly a lot of money here in a short time. I had a hamburger with double bacon cheese with french fries, salad and chocolate smoothie. Bob had the same. I was delicious and made to order quickly! We were able to use the loading station and shower. We are scheduled to take the ferry to the path tomorrow, not until noon.
I’m glad I came here. It is another center of Oasis/Haker. We are seeing people like Lighthouse, Sean and others. It is fun to spend time in these bubbles and enjoy people on the way.

Bob and I slept so well!
Vermillion Valley Resort was a wonderful fun. We couldn’t get on a ferry until noon, so we had all morning to relax. We put ourselves online for breakfast around 6:45 am there were already a handful of people in line. We listen to the generator continue and leave a couple of times. It seemed that they were having technical difficulties. They did not open until after 7:30 (30 minutes late) and let anyone who was in the 9 am ferry asked for the avocado toast and one side of pancakes plus a breakfast burrito that I kept for dinner. The avocado roasted was delicious! I even made everyone else try a bite. It was so good. We bought Wifi, 2 hours for $ 10. Bob sent some photos to our family and tried to find accommodation in Mammoth. We really didn’t have much time, it was already 10 in the morning and we had to pack everything packed.
In the end we were ready with 10 minutes left over and the ferry ended up arriving more than 30 minutes late. No problem at all. We returned to the path and started walking around 1:15 pm we knew it was mainly uphill since we had one more pass, Silver Pass (10,778 feet). VVR had 7,770 feet, so around 3,000 feet rise to more than 8 miles. This pass was lovely. Steep moments, of course, but I think this is the most surprising vision we have seen from the passes until now! He really left me breath.
We take some photos, but we went out quickly. We needed to overcome the pass and a camp and also make a dent in the miles tomorrow. We are looking at 18 miles and then taking a bus that runs until 5 pm is a gigantic. We will get up early to do it on time.
We arrive at our camp around 7pm. There are many mosquitoes! We lifted the store, picked up water and bob and enjoyed our VVR breakfast burritos. What a gift! Without cooking, delicious and filling! I also had fried and some ears. 😋
I leaked the water, brushed my teeth and lay before 9 pm
Happy paths,
Julie
