96-100 days, Mt. Washington, River Ford, dental pain and more

Day 96: We had a good breakfast before going out to Woodstock Brewery Inn. Tom Deluca, with whom we made several training walks before At Shulture US of the city today. Tom walked the first 7.5 miles with us and turned around. It was great to have your company. Tom also gave us some trail magic, two bars of granola from Joe merchants. It was a difficult day because we climbed almost 8,000 feet with 2,400 at the end to get to Liberty Springs Tentsite. This was our first night on a store platform. We almost decided Cowboy’s camp because it was a beautiful night, but we love our tent that we could not resist, but to configure it. My dad managed to put the tent using the heavy rocks that were on the platform when we arrived, since our store is not self -sufficient. My dad fought with the hung bear, but could do it. We had my dad hung our food bag and we went to sleep.

Day 97: A absolute aturner of a day but hard to go sure. 22 miles in whites, rise of 6,700 feet. I ended this afternoon on the front headlights and a bloody nose, I think that due to elevation/dryness. We camped near a pond where there were tent platforms and installed there. Eagle Eye left the job today, led White Mountain Ski Company to take new sneakers for my father, led to the beginning of the path and then ran approximately 7.5 miles to meet us. He hit us the dinner and milk hamburgers, our favorite. My dad’s shoes were falling apart while we were walking today and the last thing I wanted to do was get on Mount Washington with sneakers in that condition.

Day 98: We woke up exhausted, we went to bed late and woke up early to try to reach the cloud lake before the possibility of thunderstorms around 4 pm today. Today was another beautiful day on whites, but black flies are monsters, even from Maine, black flies were a bit very today. On our way, we met a good couple who discovered that we were through the time we feed the Gray Jays. They offered us a pizza portion, of course, we happily accept. We had a good walk to the lake of the clouds. We were the only ones through hikers in the cabin. There were many people there. Sometimes it was a bit overwhelming, but we were grateful to have been able to stay just below Mount Washington. Today was a shorter day, 14 miles and 5,600 feet ascent.

Day 99: Last night I had my worst dream on the way because there was a very strong snoring. I overcome it quickly because that is usually what you end when you sleep in a room. We had a difficult section today, Lake of the clouds to Pinkham Notch. We fulfilled Mount Washington, the first thing that was the most special summit on the trip, be sure to watch the video below! After Washington we go to Mount Madison. We had to cross a snow patch with an angle that would have been incomplete without the use of posts. My dad and I have done the entire presidential tour in one day. Today we were happy that the Sender of the Apalaches did not review most of the presidentials. As soon as we arrived at Madison Spring Hut, he began to rain. We ended up taking a 45 -minute break in the cabin before making the brief climb to Madison Summit. The rain was starting to decrease and we knew we needed to try to get under the tree line before the storms entered. We did the climb to Madison, we had a decent view and then we continued trekking. We do not love the descent of Mount Madison. You could feel in the air that the weather would arrive soon, and we could start listening to Thunder rumbling in the background. The descent until we put ourselves below the tree line was difficult, many sharp rocks that hindered the placement of the foot and it was difficult for us to follow the path since the carns seemed too separate and the white jackets were scarce. We arrived under the tree line in a little, just when the storms and the torrential rain came to heat. Instead of taking the Reloute, we ended up doing the Ford River through the west branch of the Peabody River, during a storm. My dad has been looking for USGS to verify the CFS for several days. Today was 110 cfs. My dad used to Whitewater Kayak and felt that the river would be safe to cross in its current CFS. We had to be careful crossing the river, but it was a non -event. We finish the day with 15 miles, 4,200 feet ascent. We are very happy to go home tonight and have a zero day at home tomorrow. Eagle Eye picked us up in Pinkham Notch with my McKinley dog, we had dinner again and went to dinner and went home at night. My dad went home in Dixfield and I went to my house in Rumford.

Day 100: I have been fighting a dental pain for several days and last night it was the first night that affected my dream. It was an annoyance not to sleep well how tired I am, but if I am going to be a dental pain, there is no other place that prefers to be at home. I called my brother, who is my dentist this morning and discussed the pain with him. It was a Saturday and told me to meet him in his office later this afternoon. I spent my zero day trying to relax, but dental pain was not pleasant. Fortunately, the pain was not so bad at rest. The pain was at its worst time when chewing. Despite dental pain, I made sure to eat a lot to meet my nutritional needs. My dad, on the other hand, was having a wonderful zero day, said this was the best. He has still felt on a zero day and has not had hunger pains. He believes it is because he really focused on keeping his nutrition today. I saw my brother in the afternoon and he made a small adjustment. He also told me that I will eventually need a root duct. He said that if the pain does not improve in a few days, I need to take the antibiotic that prescribed me. The plan is to take it by path. The next few days imply resistant land, so having dental pain is not ideal, but I know I will overcome it. We went to dinner tonight with a little family to celebrate Eagle Eye’s birthday. I was exhausted and ready to go home to sleep after dinner. I should have done my tasks of hikers before dinner, but I had to do it after dinner and I won’t lie down as soon as I would have liked. I took a bit of Tylenol and ibuprofen as I have done later the last nights and went to sleep.
