Day 84-11 miles today from Shaker Campsite to Berkshire Lakesid Lodge, 2,400 feet high, 1,900 feet down, 1,557 to mm
In the stand
We were so tired that we went to sleep early last night before the sunset. We both sleep very well. It was also a rather great night that made a good dream. The Shaker camp is known for the problems of the bears, but if there were bears last night we were too tired to listen to them.
This morning we had a previous start at 730. We advanced along a river through a more swampy land. Then we made a climb and on a hill.
Then we go to a paved road where the stand atmrtadas is. It is a table on the road with Wi-Fi and purchase snacks. We take a quick break before returning to the path.
Funny house
After the stand, we travel through a beautiful pine forest with huge pine pines. The path went out to the pastures before crossing another swamp.
This was a great swamp that had a fun house of parks of attractions of ride, ramps and bridges. There were all kinds of strange configurations of maritime walks and ramps that made you feel as if you were in one of those fun houses in a amusement park.
We miss our crew
After crossing the road, we made a 2 mile climb to Baldy Mountain. It was just a little more than 1,000 feet of climbing, but it was very steep in parts.
We stopped after the climb to take a break and lunch when several hikers arrived. It was good to finally see some hikers along the way.
We were both talking about how we feel bad because we have left all the people we had been walking with. These hikers who were seeing regularly now were about hundreds of miles behind us since we went to Massachusetts.
Exhausted
We made several revolts and more rock ups. We were both exhausted but we needed to move on to the next camp available. We decided to go to Berkshire Lakesid Lodge to be able to shower and rest in a bed.
