If you have to walk six miles on a paved road, six in the morning is probably the best time to do it. There was very little traffic and I arrived at Metaline Falls shortly after eight. Farmhouse Cafe was my first stop, followed by Falls Market. After that, I went to the nearby park to use one of the sheltered picnic tables outside the visitor center.
