I love loop walks
Who is not? Drive or leave it at the beginning of the path. Go out. Take the necessary photo of the sign. Then walk. And walk. Full or medium speed ahead until it reaches the end. Which is also the beginning. Simple. Complete. Symmetrical. A great circle. My next walk is a really big circle. A circle of 170 miles.

Straddling Nevada and California, Lake Tahoe is the largest Alpine Lake in North America. It has approximately 12 miles wide and 20 miles long. After the great lakes, he is the largest in the United States. Of the photos and videos I have seen, I think it can be the most beautiful. (Although Crater Lake, another destination of the desire list, also looks quite impressive). The Tahoe Rim Trail, TRT, surrounds the lake, on the top of the mountains of Sierra. Most trail miles are found in California; The rest in Nevada. Most hikers complete the walk in 8-12 days. We have planned for sixteen, with a built -in rest day. Hike.
Options, it’s great to have them
About 3 months ago, I sent a message to my Buddy Buddy Bluebird and described the deep funk in which I had fallen. After my epic 4 -month hiking holidays in New Zealand last year, (see previous publications on this walking page) real life at home began using deep cracks in my anxiety and depression. She replied that she needed something to expect. «Your choice: the long path, the Foothills path or the Tahoe Rim Trail.» While the 3 are great, after a quick search for Google, the TRT was the most interesting, so that is what I chose. Then, we both promised to forge time and make it happen. (By the way, a few months ago, I tried the Fothills path with another hiking friend. See previous publications for that brief excursion).
The low/high
I hope we can quickly adapt to altitude. The highest point is 10,330 feet and we will hit it on day 3. The lowest elevation on the path is 6,300 feet in the city of Tahoe, right in the lake. We have a beautiful hotel room reserved for a rest day there. I am sure we will need it. Another concern for me is that for the first time, I will wear a bear boat. They are required on this path. I bought a quite small 4.5 liters. Even so, it weighs 2.5 pounds, empty. With 5 days of food, too much. It is also bulky and strange in my backpack. All inside, with 2 liters of water, my backpack weighs twenty -seven pounds. First I will eat heavy food. After the first 5 days, when we arrive in the city to replenish, the other foods are much shorter, so I will not take twenty -seven pounds all the trip.
Maybe. Anyone who has done a backpack knows that the heaviest element on his back is also the most important thing he has. Water. There are stretching in the TRT where the sources are scarce. In one of those sections, an angel of paths stores water for us. Two gallons of water will wait for us at the Brockway summit. It is surprising, what Trail Angels will do for you. Thanks to the children of Dana and Dana. We may not need 2 gallons, but other hikers behind us will appreciate any extra we leave.

We are flying today. I arrive at Reno, snow at the last minute of the night, then take a walk on the path with another hiker we met online in a Facebook hiking group TRT. These types of connections are common in life on the path. I have built a solid network of hiking friends, friends of trails and friends. Bluebird is a youtuber. They introduced me online when she mitigated her path of the 2018 Apalaches through the walk. I met her in person in 2023 on the Colorado path. Look at his channel: https://www.youtube.com/@joyfulber
The form of things
We are walking anti -Horary in the TRT. It is possible that he has preferred the meaning of the clock without other reason other than satisfying my unreasonable desire to think that I am moving forward in an imaginary clock. But I will replace that image in my brain with a round and white circle. The circle, which I think is the perfect form. I don’t like triangles, too complicated and I always get caught in the vertices. Grid? Do I even need to explain why I don’t like them? A box in which you should worry about verifying or fitting? No, I like the softness and flexibility of the round. They are non -existent edges. Can I draw a perfect circle? In no way and I can’t walk one. The TRT Serpentea and meandros to the north, west, south and east, all directions that eventually lead to the beginning. And just like Simba on his trip to understanding, I hope to find my place in the circle.
