A sixth FIFA world cup? – Veteran -goalkeeper of Mexico Ochoa joins the Limassol of Cyprus in an attempt to prove fitness


Veteran Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa signed on Thursday for Cypriot club Ael Limassol in an attempt to prove his fitness to go to a sixth world cup next year.

The 40-year-old played for AVS in the Portuguese top flight last season and helped prevent the club to prevent relegation.

«The experience, personality and leadership of Ochoa is expected to significantly strengthen the team of our team,» Ael said in a statement.

Ochoa has made 152 performances for Mexico since his debut in 2005 and was the first choice on the last three world cups.

Mexico will organize the global showpiece of 48 teams together with the United States and Canada next summer.
