AC Milan Transfer News: Rossoneri characters Defender Zachary Athkame


AC Milan signed defender Zachary Athkame on Friday and added another Swiss player this month while the seven -time European champion is trying to return to the Champions League.

Milan said that 20-year-old Athkame signed a five-year contract. The transfer costs for the former right back for young boys are reportedly 10 million euros ($ 11.7 million).

The international under-21 of Switzerland arrives in Milan days after former Lucerne game maker Ardon Jashari was joined Club Brugge for a reported 36 million euros ($ 42 million).

Milan became in eighth place in Series A last season and was not eligible for a European competition.

Athkame played last season in all eight Champions League matches of Young Boys’ Champions League. The Swiss title holder lost all eight to finish last in the rankings of 36 teams. Milan was placed 13th and was then eliminated in the Knock -Out Play -offs by Feyenoord.

Athkame was released as a teenager by his hometown Club Servette and played only 15 months ago in the Swiss second -class division with Neuchatel Xamax.
