Ghana has parted ways with coach Otto Addo with 72 days to go until the kick-off of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the country’s Football Association (GFA) announced on Tuesday.
The decision came a few hours after a 2-1 defeat to Germany in Stuttgart during Ghana’s preparation for the tournament, to be held in North America next summer. On Friday they also lost 5-1 in Austria.
“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has parted ways with the head coach of the senior national team (Black Stars), Otto Addo, with immediate effect,” a statement said.

Former Borussia Dortmund player Otto Addo, who was appointed for a second spell in March 2024, failed to help Ghana qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations despite having Premier League players Antoine Semenyo and Mohammed Kudus in his squad.
The German-born coach won eight matches and lost nine in 22 matches in charge of the West African country.
Otto Addo, 50, led Ghana to the 2022 World Cup after previously working as Milovan Rajevac’s assistant ad5jhsK.
They recorded a 3-2 victory over South Korea in Qatar, but exited the group stage after defeats against Portugal and Uruguay.
Ghana, which reached the World Cup for the fifth time, is in group L, along with Croatia, England and Panama.
