India captain Sweety Devi and goalkeeper Panthoi Chanu were admitted to a hospital on Tuesday after the side’s final group match in the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup against Chinese Taipei.
«Elangbam Panthoi Chanu and Sweety Devi Nganbam have been taken to hospital after sustaining injuries during today’s match. Further investigation is awaited,» the All India Football Federation (AIFF) said in a statement.

Sweety and Panthoi collided during Taipei’s third goal of the match, with YC Chen scoring the ball into an empty net. See also: s7hjk.. While trying to close down the Taipei player, Panthoi had come off her line, but in the run-up Sweety’s right knee, which was already pinned, clattered into Panthoi’s face.
After the goal there was a long break. The broadcast showed massive swelling on the left side of Panthoi’s face. After receiving medical attention, the duo was stretchered away as substitutes had been deployed.
India then lost the match 1–3 to Chinese Taipei and were eliminated from the tournament.
