The All India Football Federation (AIFF) announced on Saturday that the contracts of referees would be extended in accordance with the procedure after it had received a letter from nine referees who asked to do so.
In a statement released on Saturday, the AIFF said that on 5 August it had received a joint letter from nine referees in which he was asked to extend his professional competition contracts on 31 August.
It then confirmed that these contracts would be extensively in accordance with established procedures.
«The AIFF would like to ensure that these contracts are extended in accordance with the established procedures, subject to the existing process of the elite referees development program,» said the statement.

It also encouraged calmly and noted that referees were involved in the current current activities of the AIFF, including the Durand Cup and Futsal Club Championship, together with the different age group of football tournaments and camps.

The explanation comes in the background of uncertainty about the status of the Indian football calendar for the 2025-26 season. In a recent press conference, Aiff President Kalyan Chaubey confirmed that the Super Cup for the Indian Super League would be held.
Several clubs, including Bengaluru FC and Chennaiyin FC, have suspended activities to varying degrees in the midst of a lack of clarity about how the season will go.
