AIFF will conduct ISL 2025-26, dates to be confirmed next week

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Saturday confirmed that it will conduct the 2025-26 season of the Indian Super League and will announce the dates next week.

The AIFF Emergency Committee met on Saturday to consider and acknowledge the report submitted by the AIFF-ISL Coordination Committee, which was constituted on December 20, 2025, after the Executive Committee meeting and the subsequent Annual General Meeting.

The Coordination Committee was requested to submit its report to the AIFF Secretariat by January 2, which was duly complied with. The report was formally recognized by the AIFF Emergency Committee, which recommended that the competition be run by Indian football’s governing body.

The ISL, which should ideally have started last September, is yet to kick off due to the lack of a commercial partner for the league.

On Friday, a host of footballers, including Sunil Chhetri, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu and Sandesh Jhingan, released a video titled ‘Save Indian Football’ in which they urged FIFA and FIFPRO to intervene, saying that «the Indian football government can no longer fulfill its responsibilities.»
