AIFF will hold an annual general meeting on December 20; Budget approval for 2026 on the agenda

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Football House in New Delhi on December 20 at 2 pm.

The main agenda of the meeting will be to approve the entire budget for the financial year 2025-2026, as the current budget has only been adopted until the end of next month. AIFF had approved a budget of ₹84.18 Cr. for financial year 2025-26 up to December 31, of which ₹83.15 Cr. is listed as expenses.

Approval of audited reports of financial accounts and discussion of the minutes of the last AGM are also on the agenda.

The previous General Meeting on September 10, 2024 adopted three resolutions:

  • A full and final settlement of $400,000 (after taxes) to former India coach Igor Stimac

  • An independent investigation into the internal procedures followed and the personnel involved in Stimac’s contract on unapproved terms and/or terms that were not in the interests of AIFF

  • The AIFF President shall be the sole authorized signatory with respect to all material agreements, contracts and MoUs entered into by the AIFF, which documents he may execute upon approval by the AIFF Executive Committee.

The AIFF and the Indian men’s football ecosystem have been plunged into a period of uncertainty, with the Indian Super League (ISL) – the men’s top flight – not taking place so far this season. The existing Master Rights Agreement (MRA) between Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) for ISL will also expire in December.

As the AIFF failed to find a bidder for ISL’s commercial rights, the matter was briefly heard in the Supreme Court on Friday. The ISL clubs had sought representation before the court at a meeting on November 18, and accordingly Kapil Sibal was present for them during the proceedings.

At the Court, Advocate General Tushar Mehta assured a bench of Justices Pamidighantam Sri Narasimha and Justices Joymala Bagchi that the Union government is committed to ensuring that the competition takes place without causing problems to the stakeholders, i.e. players and clubs.

The Bench said it would meet again later after two weeks, by which time the government would also have looked into the bidders’ concerns.

“Please keep us informed, Mr. Lawyer,” the court said as proceedings were adjourned.
