Alexander Isak’s move to Liverpool from Newcastle agreed for British record costs – reports


Liverpool has agreed a deal to sign the Swedish striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle United with a long -term contract for a British record compensation of around 130 million pounds ($ 175 million), Sky Sports News And Athletics reported on Sunday.

Long-term negotiations on the deal have dominated the Premier League transfer window, which closes on Monday, with an offer in Liverpool of 110 million pounds for the 25-year-old who was previously rejected in August.

Neither Liverpool nor Newcastle immediately responded to a request for comments outside of normal office hours early on Monday morning.

Last season, Isak scored 23 league goals to restore Newcastle to the Champions League with a fifth placed finish, while he also scored in the League Cup final against Liverpool to give his side his first domestic trophy in 70 years.

He did not come to Newcastle during his tour for the season and was forced to train separately in a tense distance with the club, which manager Eddie Howe Grimig described as a «loss-loss» situation.

However, ISAK accused Newcastle of breaking promises and misleading supporters in a statement that he wanted to leave the North-East club and said that change in the ‘best interest of everyone’ was.
