Algeria qualifies for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after winning against Somalia


Algeria qualified for the 2026 World Cup on Thursday after a 3-0 win against Somalia in their qualifying match at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium.

Mohamed Amoura scored a brace for the Desert Foxes, while Riyad Mahrez also found the net to lead their team to a comprehensive victory.

The victory consolidates Algeria’s lead at the top of Group G with 22 points from nine matches (seven wins, one draw and one loss).

It will be Algeria’s fifth appearance at the World Cup. The Desert Foxes qualified for the 1982 edition for the first time and featured in the 1986, 2010 and 2014 editions.

Algeria is the fourth African team to advance to the 2026 finals, after Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt

The 2026 World Cup will be jointly organized by the US, Mexico and Canada.
