Amorim says he is not leaving Man United, even though he experiences doubts

As the boss of Manchester United Ruben Amorim on the edge of the resignation sounded after the loss of the Shock League Cup for the fourth Tier Grimsby Town on Wednesday, he clarified his comments on Friday and said that emotions got better.

«Sometimes I want to stop, sometimes I want to be 20 years old,» Amorim reporters told Burnley on Saturday before the Premier League collision. «Sometimes I love my players, sometimes I don’t want to be with them.»

Despite the revision of his front three in the short season, United has one point of the first two league games. The second round elimination of the League Cup brought Amorim into the hot chair, and his comments after the game only threw fuel on the fire.

«I think this is a bit the limit. I think something should change,» he said after the game. «I think the team and players spoke very loudly today.»

Asked if he wanted to stop, Amorim said: «I felt that after the game. I don’t feel that now. So it’s a bit like that.

«Sometimes it’s not the result, it’s the way we have lost that game. That is the thing that is difficult to accept. Because we can do better,» he added. «At the moment we are treating positions, fighting for the ball, running, all these little things, sometimes we let the level fall a bit. The good thing is that we now have the next game to set up that level.»

The 40-year-old Portuguese are candid with reporters since he arrived last November after the dismissal of Erik ten Hag.

«I know that when I speak, I try to be honest, and every time we have such a defeat (v grimsby), I will say that sometimes I hate my players, sometimes I love my players. This is my way of doing things,» he said.

Amorim was unhappy about reports that Kobbie Mainoo, praised as one of the best recent recent products in the club, had requested a loan movement before the transfer window was closed.

«Until it is official, I can’t say much. I want Kobbie to stay. He has to fight for his place,» said Amorim. «I understand that players who don’t play are disappointed, but everyone will have the same opportunities to play.»

Mainoo was an unused replacement in both Premier League matches of United, a 1-0 defeat by Arsenal and a 1-1 draw with Fulham. His only start came against Grimsby.
