Nottingham Forest have confirmed the sacking of their manager Ange Postecoglou after just 40 days following a 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea on Saturday.
The Australian manager was in charge for eight games and failed to secure a single win in that time. He has scored just one draw in his five Premier League matches. During this period, Forest were also knocked out of the League Cup by Swansea, failing to do so in either of their two matches in the UEFA Europa League.
In a statement posted on social media after the match, the club said: «Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect following a series of disappointing results and performances.»
Postecoglou’s 40-day tenure is the second shortest in Premier League history, behind Sam Allardyce’s 30-day spell at Leeds United, and tied with Les Reed at Charlton Athletic.
