Antony says he felt ‘lack of respect’ during the exit of Manchester United

Former winger Antony van Manchester United said that he felt a «lack of respect» of the club and complained that he was treated with «coarseness» after he was frozen from Ruben Amorim’s plans.

The International Brazil was forced to train away from the team of the first team and left the club’s tour of the club after he was considered excess against requirements at Old Trafford.

The 25-year-old eventually joined Real Betis again in the summer after a successful loan spell with the Spanish side in the second half of last season.

«Look, I am not the kind of man who gets involved in controversies who calls people, I will in fact call no one here,» Antony said ESPN Brazil On Friday.

“But I think there was a bit of a lack of respect there, even a bit of coarseness, with no one giving you a good morning, a good afternoon. Even that.

«But anyway, that is in the past, I will not attach much importance to these things. Now I am here, at Betis, I live here, that is the most important thing for me.»

Antony was a huge disappointment at Old Trafford after his relocation of 95 million euros ($ 111 million) in 2022 from Ajax.

He only scored 12 goals in his 96 games for United in all competitions, and eight of them came in his first season, after which his form fell dramatically.

«I am a man who accepts my responsibilities,» said Antony.

“I think off-field affairs have influenced me a lot, in my performance. I know my potential, I know my qualities, I have played in a World Cup for nothing, I did not return to the national team for nothing.

«I also take the responsibility not to train it, because I would not perform the way I wanted. But I always try to see the positive side of things, by continuing this whole process, this time at United, was needed to see myself.»
