Ronald Araujo’s header and goalkeeper Joan Garcia’s impressive display helped Barcelona to a narrow 1-0 win against Rayo Vallecano on March 22 at Camp Nou.
Garcia was called up to the Spanish national team by Luis de la Fuente and made several excellent saves to keep Rayo at bay, with the Madrid side being dominant in the second half.
On the other hand, Raphinha was repeatedly guilty of loose finishing. The winger pushed wide after picking Pathe Ciss’ pocket and charging through on goal.
A few minutes later, Ciss appeared to bring down teenage star Lamine Yamal in the penalty area, but the Barcelona player’s calls were ignored by the referee.
Yamal’s brilliant cross, with the outside of his boot, created another great opportunity for Raphinha, but the Brazilian’s failed attempt was tipped in by Augusto Batalla.
The champion took the lead halfway through the first half through Araujo’s header from Joao Cancelo’s corner.
Araujo has not played much since taking a mental break at the end of last year, but came on as a substitute in Barca’s 7-2 Champions League defeat to Newcastle in midweek.

With Eric Garcia resting after a muscle strain, Flick started the Uruguayan at right-back and was rewarded with what turned out to be the winner.
The Catalans came close to a second after the break, but Yamal pulled a low effort over the goal.
Rayo took control and began creating dangerous chances as they searched for an equalizer.
Joan Garcia denied Alvaro Garcia and then produced a spectacular save to push away Unai Lopez’s header.
Pacha Espino should have drawn the visitors level, but after beating Barca’s high defensive line and staying onside, he curled over the crossbar.
Garcia pushed away Jorge de Frutos’ drive before six minutes of stoppage time were added, but Barcelona held on to their lead and ensured they left with all three points.
