Arsenal Parts Ways with defender Tomiyasu after an injury-striking season


Japan Defender Takehiro Tomiyasu leaves Arsenal through mutual agreement after playing just six minutes last season due to a knee injury, the club said on Friday.

The 26-year-old suffering during his four years in the North London club Multiple knee and calf injuries, some of which put him offside for months. He remains offside since he undergoes a knee operation in February.

«Unfortunately, Tomi’s time on the field has limited the time of Tomi in the past two seasons, with the defender only appearing one replacement appearance last season,» Arsenal said in a statement.

«It was therefore agreed to end Tomi’s contract to let a new chapter start a new chapter in his career.»

The former Bologna player made 65 Premier League performances for Arsenal and scored two goals.

Arsenal, which finished second in the competition in the last three seasons, will start the 2025-26 campaign in Manchester United on 17 August.
