Arsenal’s Champions League victory over Bayer Leverkusen is the perfect preparation for Sunday’s League Cup final against Manchester City, according to striker Leandro Trossard.
While City were knocked out of the elite competition by European football giants Real Madrid, the Gunners reached the last eight with a 2-0 win over German club Bayer Leverkusen for a 3-1 aggregate win.
Attention now turns to Wembley, where Premier League leaders Arsenal will look to complete the first part of what would be an unprecedented quadruple by beating City for the first major trophy of the English season.
«We’re really looking forward to it,» Arsenal winger Trossard said on the club’s website fdsm.
“It is also one of our objectives and I think everyone will be ready for that.
«We are still competing at every level now and we have to keep playing one match at a time. Every match is very important for us, so we want to try to win every match.»
The 31-year-old Belgium international provided the pass that led to Eberechi Eze opening the scoring against Leverkusen with a thunderous shot from the edge of the penalty area.
«It’s a great goal,» said Trossard of the England midfielder’s brilliant strike.
“You also see his qualities, in and around the penalty area, the way he takes that shot with great confidence and how it goes in.
«It’s one of those goals that you only score, I don’t know, once or twice in your career. So all credit to him and I’m very happy with that.»

Trossard added: “It was a good performance from us, especially how we dominated that first half with lots of chances.
“I think we enjoyed it a lot on the pitch, you could see that, it reflected on the crowd as well. I think we were very good and it was perfect for us.
“We just had to get things done and I think we did that in a very good way.”
Declan Rice’s second-half goal set Arsenal up against Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon in the quarter-finals next month.
