Arteta: Arsenal are building momentum in every competition

Arsenal’s consistent performances should convince the players they can achieve something historic this season, manager Mikel Arteta said on Friday, as the club battled for four trophies.

Arteta’s men, who have finished second in the English top flight for the past three seasons, have a six-point lead at the top of the table and have not lost any of their last 10 games in all competitions.

The club are also top of the Champions League with six wins from six games, have reached the fourth round of the FA Cup and recorded a 3-2 victory over Chelsea in the first leg of the League Cup semi-final on Wednesday.

“We are building very good momentum and the belief comes from the performances and level of consistency we have shown in 32 games this season,” Arteta told reporters ahead of Saturday’s Premier League trip to Nottingham Forest.

“What we did recently at Stamford Bridge should help us to be confident that we can do that.

«But the reality is that you have to show it in every match. There is still so much to be done. But we are happy that we are still alive in the four competitions.»

Arsenal drew with champions Liverpool in their previous league match and Arteta was wary of Forest, who are 17th in the standings but have recovered from a poor start to the season since appointing manager Sean Dyche in October.

«A top coach. Really good at what he does. You can immediately see his fingerprints, the way they play, some of the results they got against big teams too, how difficult they make it,» Arteta said.

«With Sean they are different. Very efficient in what they do with a clear identity. That makes them dangerous.»
