Arteta gives injury update on Gabriel ahead of the Premier League match between Arsenal and Crystal Palace

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta provided an injury update on his defender Gabriel ahead of the Premier League home game against Crystal Palace on Friday.

The Brazil centre-back played a starring role in the Gunners’ 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, opening the scoring before bringing on Viktor Gyokeres.

However, the towering defender was substituted in the 72nd minute when Cristhian Mosquera came on.

«He had to leave the field with a problem and he hasn’t been able to train yet, so let’s see how he develops over the next 24 hours to see if he’s available or not for the weekend,» Arteta said.

Arsenal face Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. Arteta and Co. have a three-point lead over defending champions Liverpool.

Arteta also provided an update on the quartet of Martin Odegaard, Noni Madueke, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz – all of whom were sidelined for long periods due to injuries.

«They are making very good progress. They are starting to do some activities. They are all very willing to be available as soon as possible, but at the moment none of them are in action for the next week,» the Spanish coach added.
