Atalanta fires manager Ivan Juric after poor results

Atalanta sacked manager Ivan Juric on Monday after a 3-0 home defeat to Sassuolo last weekend, leaving the club languishing in 13th place in Serie A after 11 games.

The Croatian, who was appointed in June to replace Gian Piero Gasperini after his nine-year tenure, has struggled to replicate the form that saw Atalanta finish third in the standings last season.

It has two league wins this season and is 11 points behind leaders Inter Milan.

«Atalanta BC announces that Ivan Juric has been relieved of his duties as coach of the first team,» the club said in a statement.

“Atalanta BC would like to thank Ivan Juric and his staff for their hard work and wish them all the best for the future.”

The 50-year-old became manager of AS Roma following the sacking of Daniele De Rossi in September 2024, but stayed in the role for less than two months before being sacked.

He then took charge of Southampton in December of the same year, but left the club a day after relegation from the Premier League.

Former Fiorentina boss Raffaele Palladino has been tipped by local media as the new manager of Atalanta, which is preparing to travel to Napoli on November 22 after the international break.
