Bangladesh consolidates first place; Nepal closes second with Saff U-20 Women’s Championship 2025


Bangladesh remained a strong favorite for the Saff Under-20 Women’s Championship 2025 title, while Nepal was in second place on the heels of the host.

The group stopper is assessed as the champion at the end of the double round Robin phase between the four participating countries.

In the first match on Tuesday, Bangladesh lit up Bhutan 4-1 in a game that spanned almost five hours and was played on two different grounds.

The match started in the Bashundhara Kings Arena in Dhaka, where Bangladesh took a slim 1-0 lead during the goal of Shanti Mardi. The second half, however, was delayed more than two and a half hours due to heavy rainfall and poor pitch conditions.

Eventually the game was shifted to the training field of the Bashundhara Kings. Bhutan immediately made Sangay Wangmo after the break, but Bangladesh ensured that all three points achieved Brace and the goal of Munki Akther through Mardi’s second half.

In the second game of the day, Nepal Sri Lanka laid 7-0. Meena Deba scored a hat trick, Purnima rain grabbed a brace, while Samiskhya Magar and Sarita Kumari scored the other goals.
