Barcelona announces the withdrawal of Ter Stegen as a club captain in the midst of the disciplinary procedure


Barcelona has announced that the German goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen was temporarily withdrawn as the first captain of the club.

In a statement that was released on Tuesday on the club’s website, Barcelona said that Ter Stegen was suspended until the case was ‘definitively resolved’.

On Tuesday it was reported that Ter Stegen was subject to a disciplinary procedure due to an issue with regard to the goalkeeper’s back injury. The German is expected to be out for at least three months after undergoing back operation.

The statement also said that in the absence of Ter Stegen Club Vice-Captain Ronald Arajo would take the responsibility of the first team Captainincy.
